I have been informed by a legal professional that
ttylinux is in violation of the GNU Public License by:
⇒ providing binary code without making available all
the comprising source code (does anyone not know where to get
the GCC source code?)
⇒ not being obviously clear what source code comprises the binary code
downloads
Since I personally pay DirectNIC for space and bandwidth to host this website,
I cannot simply add all the versions of Linux kernel, GCC, Alsa, Glibc, etc.
source code distributions used by all the ttylinux variants, at least not
before studying the costs.
Bear with me while I decide upon one of the various ways to comply. Please
remember: ttylinux is solely developed and maintain by me,
douglas@ttylinux.org, for my own fun, from
which I get no other benefit; I earn no money from it, my employer doesn't like
me doing it, and my wife and children want my time.
whine, whine, whine...
NOTE I do not have the build code for ttylinux version
5.3, the last release to work on an 80386 processor, and I am not sure what
source code packages were used, so it will not be coming back.
Until I re-launch the binary distributions, please make use of the
ttylinux source distribution, if you are so inclined. I will
try to get a reorganized site back together some time in February.
PS Expect a
BeagleBone ttylinux distribution in the near future,
as I've recently ordered one.
